Breaking News: IPOB members clash with security agents in Anambra A clash between members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and men of the Nigerian police force as well as Nigerian army has reportedly left one person dead in Anambra.
The clash, which took place on Wednesday in Aguata local government area of the state, was said to have been caused by the planned visit of Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the group.
The IPOB members had gathered in Ekwulobia, Aguata, in anticipation of Kanu’s visit regarding his no-referendum-no-election campaign.
They were said to have converged in their large numbers, chanting Biafra songs.
Trouble started when security operatives – including soldiers, policemen and other paramilitary agencies – who had gathered at the arena reportedly seized and burnt items being sold by the Biafra agitators.
“The Biafran flags, caps, shirts and other items being sold by some youths were seized and burnt by the security operatives, a witness told PUNCH.

At least 23 people were killed and more than 80 others
injured after a passenger train derailed in northern Indian state of Uttar
Pradesh on Saturday evening, local police said.
According to Indian railways spokesperson, the accident
occurred when a train was crossing the Khatauli station yard at a speed of 105
kph and 14 coaches went off the tracks suddenly in Muzaffarnagar district of
Uttar Pradesh, 100 kilometers away from New Delhi, India's national capital.

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board on Tuesday pegged the minimum cut-off mark for admissions into universities for the 2017/2018 academic year at 120.
The decision was taken together with vice-chancellors, rectors and provosts of higher institutions in the country at a combined policy meeting on admissions into universities, polytechnics and other higher institutions in Nigeria in Abuja on Tuesday.
The stakeholders also adopted 100 as the minimum cut-off mark for admission into polytechnics.
They agreed that admission into first choice universities should close on October 15 while December 15, 2017 was set as the closing date for second choice admission by institutions.
JAMB Registrar, Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, said universities should not go below the minimum 120 cut-off point adopted by the meeting for admissions. JAMB pegs varsity admission cut-off mark at 120, poly 100.
