Western Badagry: Nigeria Armed forces and Brutality, criminality, bribery, killing, extortion and mandling of the people of Western Badagry

Nigeria Armed forces and Brutality, criminality, bribery, killing,
extortion and mandling of the people of Western Badagry; A call to attention and necessary action.

The preamble to the 1999 constitution of the Federal republic of Nigeria
as amended say:
We the people of the Federal Republic of Nigeria: having firmly and
solemnly resolved, to live in unity and harmony as one indivisible nation under
God, dedicated to the promotion of inter-African solidarity, world peace,
international co-operation and understanding.

In the same vein, chapter 2, section 13 states: It shall be the duty and
responsibility of all organs of government, and of all authorities and persons,
to conform to observe and apply the provisions of this chapter of this
constitution.
Section 14: sub-section 2 (b) state that the security and welfare of the
people shall be the primary purpose of government. Despite the constitutional
provision which dwell on welfarism, unity and peace. The reverse is the case in
Badagry West.
In a modern society like our, another good reason and political agitation
to promote and protect individual citizens of every country is the “principle of rule of law” which preaches against any kind of oppression, brutality and the rest. It is the quest to curtail misused of power by any governmental institution that led to the evolution of the rule of law.

But despite this, the uniform men
are gradually becoming an agent of “Anarchy”, (the case of Badagry West).
The responsibility of Nigeria armed forces is to defend the territorial integrity and other core interests of our nation. The military is generally and
popularly conceived as the “totality of the armed forces all over the world,
which include the army, navy, air force and to some extent the police” (Oyediran 1996).

However, the Nigerian army are now becoming instrument of
oppression in Badagry West. They have tortured patriotic citizens, man
handled ordinary citizens, as civilians struggling for survival to prostrate in an
unconducive arena. What a pity!
It is saddened and unfortunate that the security men along Seme and
Owode Apa axis have deliberately turn those areas into the avenue of extorting money from motorists and other road users. Most especially the
police and the soldiers. The most pathetic part of it is that; they did not even have any pity, they do not believed in the campaign against corruption, as they collect bribe in broad day light and punished civilians who tried to questioned their cruelty.

I want to believe that they enjoy the supports of their various
commands by sending grants or tributes to their gang masters. Because several reports, calls and strategies has been put in across to them but they keep
moot. Owode axis has twenty-four (24) check points excluding the air force, while Seme axis has 18 checkpoints as at 28 th March, 2018.

Aside from forceful collection of money from the road users, they had for several times delayed people’s journey, torture many, killed many patriotic
citizens. They even go ahead to brainwashed our ladies and turn them into sex partner, impregnate them and reject them.
Last year, two young people were fired dead at Farasinme community at a peaceful protest by the youth against illegal blocking of one of the community road that linked the major community to its extension.

On 21 st of March 2018, exactly 9:00 am I was asked to pay money on
two jelly can of kerosene for domestic use by inspector Oseni Popoola of Federal SARS.
Also, a popular musician in Badagry West (Biggy Jossy) was humiliated by one of the soldier at Irosu checking point who treating to slap him on 27th of March 2018 at some minutes pass 9:00 pm.

On 26 th March, 2018, around 11:39 am another patriotic citizen, a
renounced scholar, a political participant and a government teacher at Badagry Grammar School was cruelly manhandled by the soldiers.

Mr. Zinsu Emmanuel (Pele) was said to have challenged their illegal blocking stylishly with play method but the soldiers turn it to another thing else and leading to serious beating of a highly respected scholar. And even threatening to deal with other
youths who miss-behave. What an aberration to human right.
The military men hiding under the lie that Mr. Zinsu Emmanuel (Pele) ask them for their gun and this prompt them to deal with him like a criminal.

A very good question one may asked is that; how possible will a learned teacher of government in a secondary school who is not suffering from any mental issue could asked a military officer to give him his gun?

But I think this is not the first time that Nigerian uniform men lied
against citizens in other to be favoured. But we will not kowtow to this deceitful and cruel ideology of the uniform men in our axis.
Deprivation of citizenship, molestation and killing of our people would have lead to another thing, if we are not a law abiding people.

We are learned, we are active, we love peace and we respect the
constitution, we obey government agencies and despite these, we are humiliated. We are not war prisoners or do we start seeking for refugee?
Enough of all these mess, enough of molestation and deprivation by uniform men in Seme and Owode axis.
All these behaviour is against the norms and practices of an ideal
society, it is indeed ugly and unpalatable, it is a sacrilege and barbaric to the norms and proactive of ideal society.
The paths of patriotic heroes and vicarious predecessors of this great nation need to be strongly adhered to.

Chapter 4, section 33 sub section (1); says “every person has a right to life and no one shall be deprived intentionally of his life, some in execution of the sentence of a court in respect of a criminal offence of which he has been found guilty in Nigeria.
Section 34, sub-section (1) “a to c” in the some vein section 35 sub-
section (1) states: every person shall be entitle to his personal liberty and no person shall be deprived of such liberty.

On this note, it is obvious that several aberrations and breach to the
supreme Nigeria constitution has been constituted by the soldiers, the police,
the immigration, the SARS of the above mentioned axis. At this junction, we
urge the government officials, Lagos state youth parliament, Nigeria to join the
campaign against the unlawful act of some of the uniform men in our nation.

To prevent future occurrence and avoid clashes between the various
communities and the law enforcement agencies, also to save the life of our children, mothers, fathers and ours including the right and hope of the generation; the following be considered with immediate alacrity:
1. The soldiers should return to their barracks. Because Badagry is a peaceful territory.
2. Concerned legal framework or constitutions should make sure those that manhandled Mr. Zinsu Emmanuel be punished to prevent further occurrence.
3. Every illegal checkpoints be canceled and legally reorganized
checkpoints be warned to desist from molesting us and should not be more than needed. And should be divided to constant and necessary or permanent and non-permanent.
4. The need for re-orienting those in question on proper and holistic
professional way of handling issues with individuals of the area in
question.

Conclusively, we urge necessary authorities and individual of the
Badagry federation (LGA) to remain law abiding to avoid any clash between us and our dear nation Nigeria. But remain vigilant and watchful to go against any
discriminating act under a more united umbrella.
Best regards, Nigeria we hail thee.
Comrade Aladeotan David
For Gbaji Asheri Youth Forum,
Badagry West, Lagos State.
