WHEN I WAS A CHILD...

A child talks, then thinks about what he had just said and lastly reasons about his words and its effects.

Thinking is to direct one's mind towards someone or something; use one's mind actively to form connected ideas or to have a specified opinion of something or someone. Reasoning on the other hand is the action of thinking about something in a logical, sensible way. Reasoning is a bit deeper than thinking.

Children hardly think deeply about issues before they verbalise what they have in their mind. They only reason deeply once in a while. My definition of a child has nothing to do with biological age, some people are childish grandfathers, while we have adult minded toddlers.

Every word and action should be subjected to logical reasoning before they are spoken or taken. One must be sure that there is coherence and logic in an argument before one engages in it. To speak, then retract and claim it was a slip of tongue is nothing short of childishness. After testing your words using the parameter of reasoning, then you must think about the appropriateness of such words and their effect on whoever you are about to communicate with. Time and situation appropriateness are important factors in communication. If you crack a joke before a woman that had just lost her child, it may seem to her that you are mocking her. As you reason, you are reducing the volume of the words about to be spoken. As you think, you will further sieve the remaining words, leaving out the irrelevant ones and verbalising only the edifying ones. That is maturity that comes with developing an adult mind.
